ABSTRACT:
An electromagnetic head array is provided for storage and retrieval of magnetic images on magnetic media moving adjacent to the head array. The head array is formed within a unitary amorphous metallic substrate approximately 1.5-mils thick. The illustrative head array includes seven separate heads formed within an area not exceeding 1/4-inch square. Two head groupings are described, the first being compatible with existing flexible disc recording formats and the second for use with a substantially higher density format. A schematic head array mounting and interconnection system is also disclosed.
