ABSTRACT:
A shielded electronically programmable read only memory (UPROM.TM.) having memory cells enclosed in a shield structure which protects the content of the memory cells from erasure UV rays is described. In addition to protecting the memory cells, the UPROM provides for accessing the cells from all sides of the shield structure without compromising its protective function. In one embodiment of the present invention, a UPROM having a two dimensional array of EPROM cells is described.
