ABSTRACT:
This invention relates to an improved process for preparing linear olefins and waxes, particularly linear olefin waxes. More particularly, this invention relates to an improved process for polymerizing ethylene to obtain linear olefins and waxes having a number average molecular weight (M.sub.n) ranging from about 500 to 5000.
The process can be generally described as a two-stage process wherein the first stage is an ethylene oligomerization followed by a second stage metathesis.
Still more particularly, this invention relates to an improved process for polymerizing ethylene to obtain a product comprising at least 70 weight percent linear olefin waxes.
