ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a traction belt16installed onto the surface of a tire12having a plurality of spike-like members18with each spike-like member having two distal ends with one end protruding through each side of the traction belt16to provide on the outer side of the belt16structure for gripping icy or snow packed surfaces, while on the inner side of the belt16the spike like members18provide frictionally sustained attachment for the traction belt16onto the outer surface of the tire. A securement cable22, tension cable24and threaded tightness adjustment device26are used wherein the securement cables22are attached to the exterior surface of the traction belt16by figure eight securements28and then tightened by the tension cable24by reducing its circumference via the tightness adjustment26. The securement cables22are secured to the belt16by figure eight cable loops30fastened to the belt16by studs32to secure the securement cable22in a way that movement of the securement cable22cannot occur in either direction about the circumference of the exterior traction belt16.
