A flame trap housing36for a flame trap34of a compression ignition engine has an inlet38configured to engage an air outlet of a turbocharger and an outlet40configured to engage an inlet of an inlet after-cooler. The housing36is double skinned, having an inner skin46defining a flame trap compartment35and an outer skin48arranged in a spaced relationship relative to the inner skin46, to define a fluid flow path52for the flow of a cooling fluid about the inner skin46of the housing36.
