ABSTRACT:
A method and apparatus for making flared, tufted, brush constructions is disclosed. A plurality of synthetic filament tufts are picked, and the ends fused. Simultaneously, the fused ends are mounted parallel on a heat softened, thermoplastic support. Before the support cools, it is deformed to a convex configuration so that when the support cools, a flared, tufted construction is formed, suitable for mounting on a handle. The support may also be deformed to a concave configuration so that the tufts converge.
