ABSTRACT:
A tubular casing for foodstuffs, in particular sausages, comprising a web (4) which is curved along its longitudinal axis and having its longitudinal edge regions (1, 2) bonded by a glued seam. The edge regions (1,2) meet or overlap and are bonded with a strip of film (6). The strip of film (6) comprises a material which is capable of shrinking in the direction of its longitudinal axis at a temperature between about 60.degree. to 100.degree. C. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used for the bonding. The tubular casing carries an adhesion-promoting layer (5) on the surface adjacent to the adhesive layer (3). Heating the filled casing gives it a curved form.
