ABSTRACT:
Synthetic human interleukin-1.alpha. genes are provided whose codons are selected from those preferred by bacteria. High expression levels are obtained in an E. coli expression system for both native interleukin-1.alpha. and several mutant interleukin-1.alpha.'s.
