2,2-Disubstituted 5-methyl-2,5-dihydro- and 2,2-disubstituted 5-methyl-tetrahydrofurans of formula (I)wherein R1is methyl, ethyl, propyl or iso-propyl; and R2is a branched C4-C7alkyl, C5-C8cycloalkyl, or mono- or disubstituted C5or C6cycloalkyl; andthe bond between C-3 and C-4 is a single bond, or the dotted line together with the bond between C-3 and C-4 represents a double bond are useful as odorants.
