ABSTRACT:
Pyrimidine compound (I)useful as a pharmaceutical intermediate, a process for preparing the pyrimidine compound (I), to intermediates used in the process, and use of the pyrimidine compound (I) in the preparation of pharmaceuticals. The process comprises hydrogenating a compound of formula (IV):wherein Ar is a phenyl optionally substituted by halogen, C1-4alkyl or C1-4alkoxy; to give a compound of formula (II):and reacting the compound of formula (II) with a salt of a compound of formula (III):to provide the compound of formula (I).
