ABSTRACT:
Borated alkyl catechols having a 3:2 mole ratio of catechol to boron can be stabilized by the addition of certain defined trialkylamines. Lubricating oils containing a 3:2 borated alkyl catechol-trialkylamine complex are effective in reducing oxidation, wear and deposits in an internal combustion engine.
