ABSTRACT:
Solid fuels which yield low SO.sub.2 emission on combustion are produced by a process which comprises separating the solid fuel into a light portion having a specific gravity of about 1.6 or less and a heavy portion and subjecting the light portion to hydrothermal treatment.
