Disclosed is a method of treating respiratory diseases comprising treating the lungs with an therapeutically-effective amount of .alpha.-tocopheryl-phosphocholine or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof, wherein the amount is administered is effective to make breathing easier.
