Compositions containing (-)-5-{(R)-1-Hydroxy-2[(R)-1-methyl-3-phenylpropyl)amino]ethyl}salicylamid e exhibit potent vasodilating .beta.-adrenergic blocking properties and are useful for the treatment of hypertension.
