ABSTRACT:
New transparent polyamides consisting of recurring structural elements of formula I ##STR1## wherein the carbonyl groups are linked to the benzene ring in 1,3- and/or 1,4-position are described. The novel polyamides are suitable for the manufacture of transparent shaped articles, and are distinguished by good thermoplastic processing characteristics, low water absorption, high stability to hydrolysis and good dimensional stability under the action of moisture.
