ABSTRACT:
This invention is directed to the production of glass-ceramic materials designed for application as glazes to low expansion ceramic bodies. The inventive glass-ceramics exhibit average coefficients of thermal expansion (25.degree.-100.degree. C.) of less than -15.times.10.sup.-7 /.degree.C., demonstrate excellent resistance to attack by acids and bases, contain beta-quartz solid solution as the predominant crystal phase, and consist essentially, in weight percent, of
