ABSTRACT:
A physical layer (PHY) module includes NTradio frequency (RF) channels and a mapping module. The NTRF channels each include N subcarriers. The mapping module includes Nsinputs receiving corresponding ones of NSdata streams. The mapping module further includes NToutputs communicating with corresponding ones of the NTRF channels. Each of the NToutputs includes N outputs. The mapping module further includes a mapping matrix that maps the NSdata streams to the NToutputs. NT, NS, and N are integers greater than or equal to 2. The NTRF channels include NTgain modules that apply NTdifferent complex gains to the NToutputs, respectively. One of the NTdifferent complex gains is applied to each of the N outputs of a corresponding one of the NToutputs. The NTdifferent complex gains correspond to NTtransmit antennas of the NTRF channels, respectively.
