ABSTRACT:
A transit system is disclosed having a guideway, with the primary of a linear induction motor located at spaced intervals therealong. A train of vehicles is positioned to travel along the guideway and includes the secondary of the linear induction motor. The secondary extends along and between the vehicles in spaced relation with respect to the primary so as to encounter a magnetic field emanating from the primary to cause a thrust to be generated in the secondary. The secondary thereby provides an even distribution of the thrust along the frame, while reducing the loss of power when the train encounters corners and hills.
