ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a novel transformation method for plants of the genusAllium. Plants transformed by the method are also provided. The method preferably involves anAgrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation, involving the transformation of immature embryos as the explant source and wherein the method is carried out without passage through the callus phase.
