ABSTRACT:
A liquid crystal device1includes a transparent first substrate10having first transparent electrodes11on the surface thereof, a transparent second substrate20having second transparent electrodes21, and a liquid crystal layer50. Pixel regions3have a light-reflecting layer4defining reflective display regions31and transmissive display regions32. A thickness-adjusting layer6having opening61defining the transmissive display regions32is formed on the light-reflecting layer4. The thickness-adjusting layer6forms slopes60at the boundaries between the reflective display regions31and the transmissive display regions32. The top edges65of the slopes are aligned with the edges45of the light-reflecting layer4.
