ABSTRACT:
A transducer is employed for measuring angles of inclination, angles of up to about 180.degree. and rectilinear positional changes according to a new electrooptical principle based on the fact that the flows of radiation emitted by two sources of radiation and measurable by means of a radiation-sensitive element are dependent on the angular position of a screen element. The primary function of the transducer is to perform accurate measurements of angular positions. To this end, the invention is conceived so as to eliminate or reduce the influence of all significant sources of error on the measuring result. This is achieved by using special radiation-sensitive elements for sensing and correcting operational changes and through the system design. For optimal utilization of the transducer, it further comprises a microprocessor from which the measuring result is obtained as a high-resolution digital signal. The transducer is especially useful for measuring angles of inclination in the horizontal and vertical planes, as well as all intermediate inclinations.
