ABSTRACT:
Improved liquid fertilizer compositions for applying urea to the soil surface contain urea-sulfuric acid reaction products having high H.sub.2 SO.sub.4 /urea molar ratios and are free of toxic components such as sulfamic acid normally associated with such products. The use of these compositions reduces or completely eliminates urea volatilization loss normally associated with topical urea fertilization, particularly in alkaline soils.
