ABSTRACT:
The invention provides a tool magazine device for a vertical machining center having a protective cover for a shank. A tool magazine device100disposed in a vertical machining center comprises a chain120moved between sprocket wheels130and140, and the chain120is equipped with tool holders200. Each tool holder200has a tool holder member220for holding the shank portion of the tool1and a shank pod230for covering the shank portion. The automatic tool change preparation device300lifts the shank pod230by gripping a knob250of a shaft240connected to the shank pod230, so as to enable an automatic tool change arm to change the tool1.
