ABSTRACT:
A tire and wheel rim assembly wherein a bead includes a bead reinforcement (12) and a sector of elastomeric material extending for at least 60.degree. around the reinforcement (12) in a direction axially inwards from the vertical plane through the reinforcement the sector being such that bead rotation generates substantial radial force to retain the bead. The sector may be of increasing radius or resistance to compression around the angle of the sector.
