ABSTRACT:
A timing control method and system for performing recording/reproducing operation using timing signals and servo signals prerecorded on a magnetic disk and a timing signal recording system for recording the timing signals on the magnetic disk. Timing signals are identified by a detection circuit in response to a pulse generated by a pulse generator responsive to revolution speed of the magnetic disk and the servo signals are extracted based on the timing signal as a reference, then the various signals for read/write operation, e.g. sector mark signal are generated based on the extracted servo signal. The timing signals are recorded with a single feed quantity smaller than a track width by means of a timing signal recording system having a incrementally movable mechanism for a head and a recording circuit for recording timing signals at respective stop positions.
