ABSTRACT:
A thrust rod anchor for utilization in conjunction with a tied form of pipe joint restrainer system. The anchor utilizes spacers which are supported by flanges at their outer extremities and are bolted together over a pipe. A pipe engaging support is provided in conjunction with the outwardly disposed portions of the spacers in a manner wherein a rigid structural support is located adjacent to the surface of the pipe which serves to support and carry symmetrically disposed pipe engaging set screws. Thrust rods are connected to the assembly intermediate outwardly disposed connecting bolts and the set screws. The anchor assemblies of the invention have been shown to provide substantially enhanced anchoring resistance to thrust forces.
