ABSTRACT:
The contact angle of each of the balls of a thrust ball bearing for use with power rollers is deviated from 90 degrees. Thus the power roller is not easily displaced in the radial direction when radial loads are exerted. Also, the distance in the radial direction between the acting point of loads applied to the circumferential surface of the power roller and the contacting point of the rolling surface of each ball and the inner ring raceway is decreased. In this way, any bending stresses to be exerted on the power roller by the application of the aforesaid loads are eased.
In another embodiment, the thickness dimension of the outer ring is made greater in the portion closer to the inner circumference, and smaller in the portion closer to the outer circumference with the outer ring raceway as boundary. Thus the width dimension of the circumferential surface of the power roller is made larger, and the strength of the outer ring is enhanced against bending stresses.
