ABSTRACT:
A three-axis stabilized platform is disclosed wherein the azimuth, or train axis, a cross-level axis and an elevation axis intersect each other at a substantially common pivot point. Each axis supports a pivotable member which includes sensing and drive means for correcting the position of that member to maintain the direction of an antenna toward an aiming point in space. Azimuth post rotates or pivots about the azimuth or train axis and is cantilevered from a support base so that the post extends vertically and radially inwardly from the base to provide pivot supports at its outer end and in planes perpendicular to each other and perpendicular to the plane of the azimuth axis. Such an arrangement permits corrective signals to be generated in the plane of motion of each pivot axis so as to maintain the antenna in alignment with a satellite, without calculation of spacial transformations to calculate each angular coordinate required to compensate for each deviation of the antenna from the desired aiming point.
