ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to a process for manufacturing an electrode, particularly a thin gas electrode of any non flat shape, characterized in that an homogeneous mixture is prepared of dry particles of active compounds, formed by at least one compound with electrocatalytic activity and possibly by at least one compound presenting electronic conductivity, and dry polytetrafluorethylene fibers, a lubricant is added and possibly a surfactant so as to cause coating of the particles of the mixture with the lubricant, and the lubricated particles of the mixture are shaped to form the electrode. Thus, electrodes of different shapes are obtained, for example a glove finger shape.
The invention also relates to a process for preparing a current collector for an electrochemical device electrode, characterized in that there is deposited, on at least a part of the surface of this electrode, a thin porous metal film adhering to the electrode. The deposit is formed by metal plating and it may be advantageously formed from nickel or copper, having a thickness between 0.01 mm and 5 mm; preferably of the order of 0.05 mm.
