ABSTRACT:
Glass articles are thermally treated in a gas-fluidized bed of particulate material which is maintained in a quiescent uniformly expanded state of particulate fluidization. Heat exchange within the bed with the material of the bed regulates the bed temperature, and the heat exchange is enhanced by engendering agitation within the bed.
