A thermal transfer printing process wherein a donor element for thermal transfer is heated imagewise in contact with a receptor element to transfer thereon a UV-absorbing compound, said donor element comprising a sheet, ribbon or web support having on one side thereof a layer incorporating in a wax or polymeric binder material an UV-absorbing benzthiazole compound corresponding to the following general formula (A): ##STR1## wherein: Z represents the atoms necessary to close an unsubstituted or substituted adjacent aromatic ring or ringsystem,
