ABSTRACT:
A thermal printhead A includes a glaze layer2formed on an insulating substrate1, a resistor layer3formed on the glaze layer, a conductor layer4formed so that part of the resistor layer is exposed to serve as a heating portion3cand a protective film5formed to cover the conductor layer4and the heating portion3c. The protective film5includes a lower first protective layer5a, and an upper second protective layer5boverlapping the first protective layer5aand serving as the outermost layer. The first protective layer5ahas a hardness of 500 to 800 Hk and a thickness of 1 to 2 μm. The second protective layer5bhas a hardness of 1000 to 2000 Hk and a thickness of 5 to 8 μm.
