ABSTRACT:
The disclosure relates to a system for insulating building walls, ceilings, floors or like structure in which a hollow insulating panel is defined by an interior chamber under negative pressure, the insulating panel being supported along limited exterior surface areas thereof by flexible connectors for supporting the panel is generally spaced relationship from an associated building wall, ceiling, floor like structure, a plurality of elongated pin-like elements of relatively small cross-sectional configuration normally spaced from the exterior surface of the panel for contacting limited exterior surface areas of the panel only upon the flexible connectors becoming inoperative, the flexible connectors being each formed by a plurality of links with at least one link being of relatively low thermal conductive material, the panel having a peripheral outline of a predetermined size and shape and a peripheral skirt of flexible material bordering the panel peripheral outline and being adapted to span any space between the panel peripheral outline and the associated building wall, ceiling, floor or like structure.
