ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides a process, for the thermal dealkylation of alkylated phenols, which process comprises reacting a feed solution containing alkylated phenols and gaseous hydrogen in the presence of water vapor, the reaction being carried out at total pressure of 400 to 800 psig, temperature ranging from about 1000 .degree. to about 1500.degree. F., and the weight percent water vapor in the reaction being from about 10 to about 40 Wt % of the alkylated phenol feedstock.
