ABSTRACT:
Alpha-[(lower alkylamino)alkyl]-4-hydroxy-3-(alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl or alkylsulfonyl)benzenemethanols which have .beta.-adrenergic blocking activity and which are therefore useful in controlling tachycardia are prepared by reduction of the corresponding (lower alkylamino)alkyl 4-hydroxy-3-(alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl or alkylsulfonyl)phenyl ketones.
