A chimeric transforming growth factor-beta termed TGF-.beta.1/.beta.2, a DNA molecule encoding TGF-.beta.1/.beta.2, a mammaliam cell transformed with said DNA molecule, and a method for producing chimeric TGF-.beta.1/.beta.2 are disclosed.
