ABSTRACT:
A test pattern signal generator provides test patterns for a display unit. A horizontal counter counts dot clocks which correspond to display dots on the display unit respectively, and is cleared when the count value reaches the number of dot clocks in a horizontal period. A horizontal memory is addressed by the count value of the horizontal counter to output horizontal sync signal and test pattern data corresponding to each dot. A vertical counter counts clocks representing horizontal sync period outputted by the horizontal counter, and is cleared when the count value reaches the number of scan lines on a display. A vertical memory is addressed by the count value of the vertical counter to output vertical sync signal and test pattern data corresponding to each scan line. An output circuit produces a test pattern signal from outputs of the horizontal and vertical memories to provide it for the display unit.
