Polymers of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxyl and alkoxy and n is an integer such that the polymer has a weight average molecular weight within the range of from 5,000 to 30,000 are useful to prepare a wide variety of block copolymer resins such as polycarbonate - polyisobutylene block copolymer.
