An x-ray tube target assembly16is provided. The assembly16includes a target disc element18having a target bore22. A target shaft20transmits rotational drive to the target disc element18. The target shaft20includes a plurality of axial adjustment slots30formed in an upper portion. The plurality of axial adjustment slots30are positioned around the target shaft20to form a plurality of partial circumferential ribs36. The plurality of partial circumferential ribs36are brazed to the target bore22.
