ABSTRACT:
A tape-type magnetic recording medium is disclosed which is adaptable to a yoke-type magnetoresistance effect magnetic head and with which a dense recording operation can be performed and a signal reproducing method is disclosed for reproducing a signal recorded on the tape-type magnetic recording medium. The tape-type magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer formed on a non-magnetic support member, wherein when an assumption is made that residual magnetic flux density of the tape-type magnetic recording medium is Br, the thickness of the magnetic layer is .delta., the saturation magnetic flux density of a magnetoresistance effect device of a yoke-type magnetoresistance effect magnetic head serving as a reproducing head is Bs and the thickness of the magnetoresistance effect device is t, the following relationship is satisfied:
