ABSTRACT:
A tamper proof closure for use in combination with a threaded container for spirits or liquor having a retaining means thereon, with said closure having an internally threaded straight side wall and a breakaway portion located thereon which is adapted to slide over the retaining means on the container, the breakaway portion being separated from the remainder of the side wall by a serrated line, said portion being provided with a continuous circumferential extending wedge shaped ring having locking lugs located thereon which are adapted to engage the retaining means to cause the breakaway portion to become detached from the side wall and remain on the container so as to indicate to the consumer tampering thereof.
