ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates generally to a tamper evident shroud for application to a moulded plastic or glass container having a closure and a protruding peripheral ridge of generally circular corss-section. The shroud has a cup-shaped body portion and an annular rim portion, the two portions being joined by a notch-line of weakness. The rim portion has an inwardly projecting peripheral ridge which engages the peripheral ridge of the container to resist removal of the shroud. The notch-line of weakness is designed to rupture upon unauthorized removal of the shroud, thereby providing visual evidence of tampering. To accommodate intentional opening of the container, the annular rim portion is adapted to be torn away from the body portion along the rupturable notch-line.
