ABSTRACT:
In an exemplary embodiment, an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system includes an OFDM transmitter and an OFDM receiver that is configured to receive OFDM signals from the OFDM transmitter over a communication channel. The OFDM signals comprise a plurality of tones including data bearing tones that carry data and reserved tones for generating peak-to-average-power (PAPR) reduction signals. The OFDM system also includes a channel estimation component that is configured to estimate communication channel information for the data bearing tones and also for the reserved tones. The OFDM system also includes a tone selection component that is configured to determine tone selection information based on the estimated communication channel information.
