ABSTRACT:
An apparatus for providing beneficial insects or mites to a cropping environment for application to the control ofthrips, and methods for using the same is disclosed. The apparatus comprises first and second members joined by a hinge section, which also functions as a hook. At least one of the first and second members comprises a compartment and at least one emergence hole providing a passage between the compartment and the environment. The compartment comprises a formulation therein comprising beneficial insects or mites useful for controllingthrips. The apparatus is oriented when in use to have an inverted V- or U-type conformation, which creates a sheltered region around the emergence hole, protecting it from the environment.
