ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is an asynchronous transfer mode relating to a cell switching method, a cell format converter thereof, and a switching system thereof which are proper for switching an AAL2 ATM cell and an AAL5 ATM cell using an AAL2/AAL5 converter and an AAL5/AAL2 converter. Namely, AAL2 traffic may be switched at an AAL level using the AAL2/AAL5 and AAL5/AAL2 converters, so as to increase a system efficiency and provide a flexible interface between AAL2 and AAL5 protocol.
