ABSTRACT:
A system and method for processing an optical information on an optical record medium are disclosed in which a timing at which a scanning of a light spot on one record track of the optical record medium derived from an acoustooptic deflector is started is controlled on the basis of a tracking error signal indicating that a scanning trajectory of the light spot is deviated from a center line of the one record track on the optical record medium. Therefore, the light spot can accurately be tracked on each record track on the high density optical record medium such as a tape in a simple construction.
