ABSTRACT:
A system30and method(s)100for thermal treatment of a selected target within a subject is disclosed. System30includes RF source10, phase shifter14, impedance matching network11and resonator13. Applicator3conveys output signal17from energy source10through surface6of biological tissue4to predetermined energy dissipation zone5after output17has been processed by the phase shifter14, IMN11and resonator13. Stationary water molecules1, such as those in fat cells, are heated. System30is operative to heat a volume of biological tissue beneath the biological tissue surface6such that surface 6 of biological tissue4is maintained at a lower temperature than predetermined energy dissipation zone5without a cooling device. The invention is useful in selective heating of cellulite bodies as a means of treating cellulite.
