ABSTRACT:
A wear-resistant, synthetic lubricating oil composition comprises as a base oil a synthetic oil mixture consisting of (A) a diester of an aliphatic dibasic acid having 4-14 carbon atoms and an alcohol having so many carbon atoms or a mixture of several such diesters and having a viscosity at 100.degree. C. of 2.0-7.0 mm.sup.2 /s, and (B) a polyoxyalkylene glycol whose alkylene group contains 2-5 carbon atoms or a mixture of several such glycols and having a viscosity at 100.degree. C. of at least 20 mm.sup.2 /s. The base oil exhibits viscosity values of 9 mm.sup.2 /s or above at 100.degree. C. and 6.times.10.sup.4 mPa.s or below at -40.degree. C.
