ABSTRACT:
An improved lubricant is provided by combining ester lubricants with alkylated polyaromatic lubricants. This combination provides a lubricant that exhibits the oxidation/varnish control of alkylated naphthenics, while at the same time providing the high temperature stability of the ester-type lubricants. A wide variety of ester lubricants can be used such as polyol esters, dimeracid esters and the like. Preferably, the alkylated aromatic lubricant has a viscosity greater than 25 up to 220 cSt measured at 40.degree. C. Greases can also be formed using this combination.
