ABSTRACT:
A switching power source comprises a current comparator27for comparing a voltage level of signals acquired by a current detector9with a reference voltage level VDTto produce detection signals VCPof first or second level L or H; an edge detector28afor sensing an edge of drive signal VGsupplied to a gate terminal of MOS-FET3during the period of transition from turning on to off of MOS-FET3; and a decision means28bfor receiving a current detection signal VCPfrom current comparator27to produce an output signal VLDwhen edge detector28acatches an edge of drive signal VG; wherein decision means28bproduces different output signals VLDof respectively first and second voltage levels L and H under the light and heavy load conditions to precisely and certainly detect on the primary side of transformer2the load condition on the secondary side of transformer2for improvement in conversion efficiency.
